As a huge fan of last years Sightseers (2012), Ben Wheatley is a director I have always meant to watch more of and with Kill List I finally took the chance. Set in Yorkshire, the film follows a family whose father works as an assassin. After being given a new list he sets out to make some money only to discover more than he bargained for and find his and his families life under threat.

The film is a strange mix of genre with dramatic, thrilling, action and supernatural elements all combining to give a weird twisted version of reality that seems realistic but also not in a strange way. The film is intense from the first minute to the last as the audience is thrown into the deep end without any real characterization.

It is a tough film to talk about without giving away too many spoilers so I will say this; after a slow start the film picks up intensity and leads to a fantastic finale that is unpredictable and looks amazing. Considering this film is reasonably low-budget it is fantastically made and truly interesting.
